I got my start in the late 80's studying sculpture at Kent State University under the wise and talented Brinsley Tyrell. In the following few years I became Brinsley's understudy and got my first real glimpse into the world of being an artist.
After College, I spent the next 10 years working in bronze sculpture foundries in both Ohio and Colorado, reproducing other artists work in bronze. During this period I continued to produce my own work in clay, plaster, carved wood, cast bronze and cast glass.
In 2005 I figured out a way to combine my two passions, music and sculpture, by making electric guitars. For the next decade I delved deeply into luthiery and quickly found there a passion for doing inlays, carving and any combination of the two. The years I spent making electric guitars were some of the most difficult yet most rewarding years of my artistic life.
That brings us to the present decade. Back to sculpture. I am currently taking the experience and skills learned as a luthier and putting them into my sculptures. I feel that these elements combined have brought me to my best work. I am very excited to see what this will evolve into. So far, I'm really digging it and hope that you are as well.
I am currently living in Cottage Grove, Oregon with my lovely wife Marcia. We have been here several years now and we love it.
